I absolutely love getting creative with accessories to change up an outfit. Here I am wearing a grey sweater, denim skinnies and brown boots. To me that is just the start of an interesting outfit. I found this oversized, lightweight scarf years ago at Ross for $5 and it seemed perfect to use for this. If you try this, definitely go with the lightest-weight scarf you can find. It makes the knot less noticeable. And you will also want a pretty large sized scarf. You can see the size of mine in the photos below.
I am not sure how good I am at explaining this, so please ask questions and give suggestions! And I promise I am happy–even if the pictures look strange. Here we go:
1: Open up the scarf and hold horizontally. Grab the top two ends with each hand.

2: Make a teeny tiny double knot with those two pieces. Leave it slightly loose for the next step.

3: Hold that knot you just made in your left hand and grab the center of the other end of the scarf. It will look like you are folding the scarf in half. Take the piece in your right hand and tie it carefully into the knot in your left hand. I kind of folded it into the center of the loose knot. And then tightened it all together. You want it to stay put, but don’t want tons of bulk here.

4. Open it up and you will have two holes that you can slip your arms through. The knot goes in the back. You can play around with it by turning it into a bow or tucking the ends under.

Voila! You can wear the scarf vest open and loose.
